A large fire at a waste recycling plant has caused a smoke plume to drift across south county Dublin from Bray in Co Wicklow.

Dublin Fire Brigade and local units were continuing to fight the blaze this morning.

The fire started just after 2am in a large collection of pallets in the Fassaroe area and began to spread quickly, sending smoke high into the sky and across towards Dublin.

Dublin Fire Brigade said it had received many calls from people saying they could smell smoke.

Work began on moving pallet stacks to try to isolate the fire and stop it spreading further.

There are no reports of injuries.

Two units of Dublin Fire brigade remained at the scene this morning.
