Over 800 customers left without power after 'cable fault' in North Dublin
Almost 850 people were left without power this afternoon after a cable fault in North Dublin.
In a statement, ESB Networks explained that the outage was recorded in the Finglas area and it affected almost 850 customers.
Crews were immediately dispatched to the area.
The supplier said: "More than 500 customers had their power restored by 1.30pm.
"ESB Networks estimate that a majority of the remaining 350 customers will have their power restored by 2.30pm with a few remaining until later in the afternoon."
The statement concluded: "ESB Networks apologises to customers in the area for the inconvenience caused by the outage."
Tesco in Finglas confirmed that the outage did not affect shoppers during the busiest time of the year.
"Customers have been unaffected by an area wide power outage at its Clearwater store and is operating business as usual.
"We are liaising with the ESB on the matter but have an independent power source as a back-up system which is currently in operation," a spokesperson confirmed.
