Disability campaigner Joanne O'Riordan said she was "absolutely shocked" to discover she had been chosen as the Grand Marshal for this year's St Patrick's Day Festival Parade in the capital.

"I'm absolutely delighted. It's such a huge honour for me and my family," Joanne said.

Speaking about her transport for the big day, Joanne joked: "If it's not a Mercedes or a Rolls-Royce with my dad holding me up in the air like the Sam Maguire Cup, I'll be really upset."

The 19-year-old will be the youngest person to lead out the world-famous parade and it will be the first time for Cork-born Joanne to attend the festival.

"To be the youngest person and the first person with a disability to represent people is just class," said the inspirational 'No Limbs-No Limits' campaigner.
