McDonald's worker left shaken after gunpoint robbery Newsdesk Newsdesk

A member of staff at a McDonald's has been left shaken after an early-morning gunpoint robbery.

The incident happened outside the fast food outlet in the Connswater Retail Park in Belfast at around 5am.

A member of staff was outside of the premises when they were approached by a man carrying a suspected firearm.

He ordered the member of staff inside the restaurant, where he demanded money be handed over.

After receiving a sum of money the man, who was wearing a black hooded top, gloves and had his faced covered with a scarf, took off with the money on a bicycle.

The staff member was not injured in the incident but was left shaken.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives in Musgrave Police Station on 101 quoting reference 520 of 01/01/18.

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
