McDonald's hits bum note with 'epic fail' St Patrick's day shamrock shake advert

Fast-food giant McDonald's has hit a bum note with their advertisement for the Shamrock shake.

Web users have blasted the 10 second clip, shared on their official Twitter page ahead of St Patrick's day.

Under the word 'instrumint' it shows an actor with a Scottish tartan hat playing the mint and chocolate shamrock shake like a bagpipe.

Behind him there are clips of sheep walking in rolling hills, which could possibly be in Ireland. And there is a clip of a rainbow that could be anywhere in the world.

But it then cuts to footage of Stonehenge, which is most definitely not in the Emerald isle.

The advertisement has been met with an understandable backlash online.

One twitter user wrote: "#epicfail and an insult to us Irish quite frankly."

Another responded: "The music is Scottish pipes & the scene is Stonehenge in England. Maybe try again with Irish Uilleann pipes & an Irish setting?  ☘"
