A man has been injured following a collision between two truckson the M1 in the early hours of this morning.

The collision occurred between junctions seven and six southbound between Julianstown, Co Meath, and Balbriggan.

The crash occurred at approximately 4.30am.

It’s understood four DFB appliances attended the scene as well as an ambulance.

It’s believed it took emergency workers some 30 minutes to cut one of the drivers out.

One man was taken to hospital.

The section of the motorway was closed for some time but was reopened at approximately 6.45am.

Meanwhile, an investigation is underway after a person was struck by a train in West Dublin.

The incident was reported shortly after midnight and occurred in Coolmine.

Gardai are investigating.
