A man was brought to hospital on Monday after he was robbed and assaulted by a group of teens on a Dublin beach.

The victim (26) and his partner were walking on Dollymount Strand on Dublin's northside at 8pm when he was approached by a teenage male who "grabbed his sunglasses".

The man attempted to take his sunglasses back from the youth but was then set upon by four other teenagers.

Gardaí confirmed that the victim, who is from Dublin, was assaulted and suffered minor injuries.

Emergency services were called to the popular beach spot and the injured party was later brought to Beaumont Hospital.

A short time later gardaí arrested five teenage males on Clontarf Road. They were brought Clontarf Garda and Raheny garda stations where they are being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
