Man dies and two seriously injured in road crash

A man in his 40s has died and two others were injured following a two-car collision in Co Cork.

The incident occurred on the N20 Cork/Limerick Road around 2km outside Buttevant at around 6.40pm.

The man was a passenger in one of the cars and was pronounced dead at the scene.  One of the injured drivers was taken to Limerick University Hospital while the other was taken to Cork University Hospital. They’re conditions are described as non life threatening.

Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses to contact Mallow Garda Station on 022 31450, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

The road will remain closed overnight for a Garda Forensic Collision examination. AA Roadwatch say diversions are in place via Newtwopothouse and Lisballyhay because of the crash.
