A man has been arrested by gardai investigating the murder of Andrew Allen, who was shot in in Co Donegal in 2012.

Mr Allen was shot on February 9, 2012 at his home in Links View Park, Buncrana.

A man in his early 50s was arrested Saturday, April 8 in Donegal, in connection with the investigation.

He is currently detained at Letterkenny Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.

The 24-year-old victim was gunned down through a window of his home on the Links View estate in Buncrana, after a group of men tried to break down the front door.

Mr Allen, who was from the Top of the Hill in the Waterside area of Derry, was one of a number of people intimidated out of the city by dissident republicans.
