A man (70s) was killed in a road accident this afternoon, gardai have revealed.

Gardai in Kilkenny said the collision happened at around 2.30pm at the Rower between Graiguenamanagh and New Ross.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

He was the sole occupant of his car and no other vehicles were involved in the incident.

Garda forensic collision investigators and PSV officers are at the crash site and the road is currently closed to traffic.

Local diversions are currently in place.
