Man (60s) killed following shooting in Dublin housing estate

A man has been killed following a shooting incident in Dublin this evening.

The incident occurred shortly before 9.30pm when the man, aged in his 60s, was shot outside a house in Walkinstown.

It is understood that the victim was shot at least three times.

The injured man was taken from Harty Avenue to St James’ Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after 10pm.

A burnt out car was discovered a short distance away on John McCormack Avenue.

The scene of the shooting and the area where the car was discovered have been preserved for forensic technical examination. 

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the Crumlin/Walkintown areas between 9pm and 10pm to contact them at Crumlin Garda Station on 01 666 6200.
