Man (50s) dies after being struck by articulated lorry at industrial park

A man has died following a workplace accident at a distribution centre in Co Kildare overnight.

The 53-year-old man, suffered catastrophic injuries when he was struck by an articulated truck that was reversing at a distribution centre in Newhall, Naas.

The incident took place at approximately 2.30am and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body remains at the scene this morning.

Gardaí in Naas confirmed they are investigating the death. A separate investigation is being carried out by the Health and Safety Authority.

In a statement gardaí said: "The incident occurred in a distribution centre at a Business Park in Naas, Co Kildare at approximately 2.30am. He was pronounced dead at scene. The Health and Safety Authority and local Coroner have been notified. The man’s body is still at the scene.

"The investigation is ongoing."
