Man (30s) killed after crash between a car and an articulated truck

A man died in a tragic road crash in the early hours of this morning.

There was a collision between an articulated truck and a car at approximately 1.30am at the M1, northbound, between Junction 13 Dunleer and Junction 14 Ardee in Co Louth.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the sole occupant of the car (30s) was brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The male driver of the truck (mid 60s) was uninjured.

Garda Forensic Investigators are at the scene, a section of the road is closed this morning and diversions are in place.
