A 30-year-old man has been arrested following a robbery at a hotel in the early hours of this morning.

The incident took place at a premises on Dock Road in Limerick at approximately 3am.

A male receptionist manning the desk in the hotel was threatened with a syringe as the thief demanded cash and fled the scene with a cash box.

Gardai were alerted and pursued the man along Windmill Apartments where he was arrested.

No injuries were sustained during this incident and the cash box was recovered.
