Man (27) as part of investigation into 'suspicious' approach to 12-year-old girl

Police have launched an investigation into an incident in which a 12-year-old girl was suspiciously approached by a man.

The incident occurred in Belfast city centre on Saturday afternoon, police have reported.

The girl was lifted off her feet by the man in the Bank Street/Royal Avenue area - but she managed to break from his grip.

The girl was not injured in the incident which happened between 5 - 5.30pm.

A 27-year-old man has since been arrested by police and remains in custody.
