Male pedestrian killed after he was struck by vehicle

A male pedestrian has been killed after he was struck by a vehicle in Connemara this morning.

The man who is believed to be in his 40s and from the local area died following the incident at Cill Chiaráin (or Kilkieran) in Co Galway at around 11am today.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency services and gardai remain at the scene.

The road between Cill Chiaráin and Rosmuc is currently closed to facilitate a Garda forensic collision examination.

Witnesses to the collision are asked to contact the Gardai in Clifden Garda Station on 095 - 22500, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
