A driver is to be prosecuted after they were caught parking across two disabled parking bays without a permit.

An Garda Siochana shared a photo on Twitter this morning of the red car in the disabled parking spots in Cork City.

They wrote: "Car in Cork City Centre obstructing two disabled parking bays without permit.

"Car was towed and owner will be prosecuted. #operationenable"

Social media users were quick to say how disgusted they were that the spots were being used by someone who didn't have a valid permit.

One woman wrote: "Makes my blood boil, complete disregard for people with disabilities."

Another person simply said: "Name and shame them."

Gardai launched Operation Enable in March in a bid to crack down on drivers who are fraudulently using disabled parking permits and parking bays.

These permits allows the user to park for free in disabled bays and any other public parking spots across the country.

26 people are due to appear before the courts in the coming months in relation to using a disability permit to park on Dublin streets.
