An Irish husband was in the good books today in Dublin Airport as he greeted his pregnant wife with her "first ever" bouquet of flowers.

Marlene Escudero was returning from Texas, where she had been visiting family to share the couple's happy news that they are expecting their first child together.

The Blanchardstown couple, who have been married for two years and together for seven, are expecting their first child together.

Marlene Escudero beamed in the airport as she told Independent.ie that it was the "first time (husband James Delehanty) bought me flowers!"

"I don't do flowers but I do good diamonds!", he laughed, as Marlene showed her engagement and wedding rings.

There were high spirits in Dublin Airport this afternoon as Irish people from around the world walked through the arrival doors to tears, cheers and Christmas carols from a local school choir.
