A young woman has been left heartbroken after losing her engagement ring on the night of her engagement party.

Shannon Bradshaw (22) and her fiance Alan Hubbard (23), from Wicklow town, got engaged three weeks ago after a romantic proposal on the beach.

The young couple celebrated their big news with family and friends on Sunday night in Wicklow town.

"The ring was a tiny bit loose but we only got engaged a few weeks ago and we were having our engagement party on Sunday so I didn't want to get it resized," Social care worker Shannon said.

The ring is a white gold ring with a cluster of diamonds and a diamond band.

The young couple had not had a chance to get it insured.

Shannon's other half, who works as a security guard, proposed to her on her birthday last month.

"He brought me to this little beach we always go for walks on and he got down on one knee," she told Independent.ie.

"It was the most perfect ring," she said.

The couple celebrated at home and went to the Old Forge venue in Wicklow town later in the evening.

"When I got home I noticed and trying to get a taxi back in was impossible," she said.

In the meantime the couple have contacted the club, local gardaí and the taxi company they used to get home.

"I am so heartbroken but I'm just trying to keep positive," Shannon said.

If anyone finds the ring contact Wicklow Garda Station who have Shannon's contact details.
