DELAYS of up to an hour and a half are affecting rail services to and from Heuston Station this evening.

The disruption to services is a result of a power outage at an ESB station in Kildare.

Services were ground to a halt for a time however a spokesperson for Irish Rail said services were operating again, but with delays of between “30 and 80 minutes”.

In a message online, ESB networks said: “We apologise for the loss of supply. We are currently working to repair a fault affecting your premises and will restore power as quickly as possible.

More than 1,500 homes are currently without power but ESB says power will be restored by 10.30pm
