IRA murderer of prison officer also a sex abuser
THE son of the only prison officer in the Republic of Ireland to have been murdered by the IRA claims his father's killer is also a Provo child abuser.
Austin Stack's father, Brian, was shot on March 25, 1983 after leaving a boxing contest in Dublin. He died of his injuries 18 months later. It took 30 years for the IRA to admit responsibility for the shooting.
Writing in today's Irish Independent, Mr Stack said he now believes the same man who organised the murder is an alleged IRA child abuser.
"In recent days, I have received information which suggests that the IRA man who organised my father's murder also stands accused of abusing children in the most horrible fashion imaginable. This has sickened me to my core," he said.
Mr Stack has also revealed how he received a torrent of abuse on social media for chasing the truth about his father's death.
