'Independent' will get you into shape in 100 FIT Days

Monday sees the start of the Irish Independent Fit Magazine's 100 Fit Days revolution, our campaign to spread the joy of fitness and the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle.

Over the course of the next 14 weeks, we will publish weekly exercise and nutrition plans to give you the blueprint for a healthier and happier you. And the good news is, you don't need a gym membership or any exercise equipment other than a stopwatch and the Irish Independent.

Our fitness expert Siobhan Byrne has devised a programme that maximises fat loss by raising your metabolic rate for hours after you have finished exercising. All the exercises can be done using your own bodyweight and in the comfort of your own home.

No matter what your fitness level, you will be able to live the 100 FIT days. We start you off slowly – the first week's exercises take less than five minutes, and as your fitness levels improve, we will build them up to make sure you are dropping lots of fat and building lean muscle.

100 FIT days is for everyone: for established fitness fanatics who want to mix it up and improve their strength levels; for the formerly fit who want to get back on the wagon and it is especially for those of you who have never embarked on a serious fitness regime before. If you are stressed, overwhelmed by the chaos of modern life, if you are unhappy about the state of your health or if you are fat – 100 FIT days is for you.

It's a simple plan, but it's far from easy. You will need focus and discipline to stick to the plan for 100 days, but if you do, the rewards will come.
