'I'm just absolutely gutted' - Mother reveals Ryanair flight for dream Disneyland holiday cancelled 'in error'

A mother has told how a dream holiday to Disneyland with her five-year-old daughter has turned into a nightmare after she believed Ryanair cancelled their flight home at the last-minute.

Lorraine Teevan, from Co Cavan, and daughter Noelani flew out from Dublin airport this morning but just moments before they boarded the plane she received an email saying their return journey had been cancelled.

This was despite the fact that the specific journey was not detailed on an extensive list of flights released by the airline on Monday.

Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary confirmed that they will cancel up to 50 flights a day over the next six weeks.

The budget airline said it is cancelling the flights as it moves to reduce a backlog of holidays for staff and improve punctuality.

However, the email Ms Teevan received noted that the 10.25pm flight from Paris Beauvais to Dublin on Thursday evening had been cancelled.

The well-known photographer said: "I flew out to Paris at 6.40am today and just as I was about to board the flight my phone beeped with an email.

"I was told that the flight we were coming back on was cancelled."

She continued: "This is really annoying because I checked the cancelled list last night and it wasn't on it. I checked it again today and it is still not on it."

Ms Teevan said she was given the option to return on Thursday morning at 9am but she explained that this simply would not work.

"If I was flying that early then there is no way I could get to the airport at that hour."

Instead she opted to book a flight home on Thursday at 5pm with Aer Lingus out of Charles de Gaulle airport. Due to work commitments she cannot return on the Friday. The new booking has set her back another €451 and this is not the only cost.

"I had also arranged and paid for transport back and forth from Beauvais. I can't get a refund on this. I must also now pay to get to Charles de Gaulle on Thursday."

The mother and daughter were due to spend two days at Disneyland this week but now this has been cut short to just one day.

"We have this trip planned about two months, we were so looking forward to it. I only told my daughter yesterday morning, it was her birthday present.

"I'm just absolutely gutted. We are saving for a long time to go on this trip but now it is costing me more to get home from this trip with my girl than the whole thing combined."

Asked if she will ever fly with the airline again, Ms Teevan said: "I'll never fly with Ryanair agian. I had a bad experience before and this is the icing on the cake."

In a statement later issued to, a Ryanair spokesperson said; "This flight was cancelled in error and has since been reinstated.

"All customers have been notified and this flight will operate as planned."
