Hundreds of customers were evacuated from Clerys in Dublin after billows of smoke were discovered rising from underground.
Several units of Dublin Fire Brigade were called to the scene at around 2.10pm after it’s understood smoke was spotted rising from the floor.
However, a spokesman described the incident as “minor” and the situation was quickly brought under control.
The incident was concluded some 10 minutes later and customers were allowed to re-enter the building.
The famous department store closed for four months in July 2013 after suffering severe flood damage.
THERE'S a small pop-up shop at the back of the Clerys department store on Dublin's O'Connell Street. It's a clever marketing gimmick to engage with customers as the store remains closed following the near-biblical flood that destroyed the innards of the listed building.
