Guests have been evacuated at a Kildare hotel after a fire broke out near the hotel’s leisure centre.

A spokesperson for Dublin Fire Brigade said seven units from Kildare fire services are attempting to extinguish the blaze at Westgrove Hotel which broke out around 9.40pm.

The fire broke out in the hotel’s plant room which contains pumps and heaters and is located just off the leisure centre.

There are no reports of any injuries but the fire has yet to be fully extinguished.

The buildings are also being vented following extensive smoke from the fire.
