'He had his whole life ahead of him' - Teenage boy (16) killed in road accident named locally
A teenage boy who was killed in a road accident had "his whole life ahead of him", a local politician has said.
The boy, who has been named locally as Adam Case (16), died in a single vehicle incident that happened on Boston on the Ballingarry North to Cloughjordan road in Co Tipperary on Tuesday at around 3.45pm.
Offaly County Councillor Sean Maher said that people were shocked by the news as he extended his condolences to Adam's grieving family and friends.
The Sinn Fein representative told Independent.ie: "It's tragic, I know his family.
"I'm so sorry for their loss and I'd like to sympathise with them at this awful time.
"It's absolutely tragic, he was just 16 and he had his whole life ahead of him.
"My thoughts are with them."
It is understood that the car crashed into a tree.
Adam, who was a rear seat passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene and his remains were removed to University Hospital Limerick.
There was also a young man (22) in the vehicle, who is fighting for his life.
A female passenger was also hospitalised for her injuries.
The road was closed for a time to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and has since reopened.
