#HaveYourSay: Independent.ie readers confident they could communicate effectively using just Irish for 24 hours
Over half of people reckon they could effectively communicate only through Irish for a day, according to a new survey.
More than 30,000 students will do just that tomorrow as part of this year's Gaeilge24 challenge, which is co-ordinated by Conradh na Gaeilge.
For the first time each of the 32 counties will be represented by at least one school in the challenge.
Independent.ie has asked our readers whether they would be able to speak as Gaeilge for 24 hours and almost 1300 people had their say.
A confident 53 per cent of those who answered (683 people) said they could do it.
Just under half of people polled (594) said they don't think they could manage it.
