Girlfriend of man who raped former Irish partner while she slept remains by his side
THE new girlfriend of the man convicted in Ireland last week of the rape of his former partner in her sleep is remaining by his side.
Magnus Meyer Hustveit (25) received a suspended sentence for the sexual assault and rape of his then girlfriend Niamh Nic Dhomhnaill.
However, his 25-year-old student girlfriend continues to live with the Norwegian at the apartment they have shared in Oslo since April 2014, the Sunday World has revealed.
Part-time model Carina Marie Rose has worked as a substitute teacher, just as Ms Nic Dhomhnaill had done previously at a Dublin school.
Hustveist moved back to the Scandinavian city after sending an email to his Irish ex-girlfriend, in which he confessed to his crimes.
Gardai prosecuted Hustveist - who currently works in the IT section at Gabler AS - on the basis of the contents of this email, in which he admitted he regularly sexually assaulted her and raped her while she slept under the influence of medication.
Ms Rose, who is currently studying zoology at Oslo University, had posted pictures of herself and Hustveist socialising at the Chaplins Comedy Club in Dublin while he awaited sentencing.
However both herself and her rapist boyfriend have refused to comment to media following the sentencing.
It is understood that Hustveist's colleagues were under the impression that he was on vacation while he was in Ireland waiting to be sentenced.
