Gardai discovered a number of foreign nationals in the rear of a truck in Co Laois this afternoon.

A truck driver pulled over near Stradbally and alerted gardai to knocking coming from a container near a graveyard in the town shortly after 5pm.

On opening the container, Gardai found three men in their 30s, two women in their 30s and one child.

The individuals are claiming to be Kurdish nationals.

It's understood they had been in a chilled truck for three days.
