Gardai seize €45,000 worth of drugs after stopping driver (35) in intelligence-led operation

A man has been arrested in connection with the seizure of €45,000 worth of drugs.

Gardai stopped a car near Kinnegad, Co Westmeath at around 7.30pm last night.

The 35-year old driver and sole occupant was arrested at the scene and taken to Mullingar garda station.

Heroin worth up to €45,000 was seized in the intelligence-led operation targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Westmeath area.

The man is currently detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking Act) 1996 at Mullingar Garda Station.
