Gardai have issued an appeal to the public over the 2008 murder of a man, who was shot outside a takeaway in Dublin.

On 19th October 2008, Gavin McCarthy (21) was shot in the face outside a fastfood outlet in Lower Sheriff Street in Dublin. He was standing outside the takeaway with his brother, Daniel, with a number of other people.

The man fled the scene, via Crinan Strand, through a lane running between the Sheriff Football Club and the artificial football pitch beside it. He was then spotted running in the direction of the North Wall Quay and the IFSC.

Investigating gardai believe that someone within the North Wall community may know something about his murder and may know be in a position to help.

Anyone with information should contact Store Street Garda Station on 01 666 8000 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
