Gardai arrest two in connection with serious assault in Roscommon

Gardai have arrested two men in connection with a serious assault in Roscommon town last month.

Gardai have arrested two men in connection with a serious assault in Roscommon town last month.

Gardai have confirmed that a man in his 40s was arrested in Ballinalsoe yesterday morning while another man, also in his 40s, was arrested this morning in Athlone.

Both men are currently detained for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Roscommon Garda Station. 

Shortly after 11pm on August 30, Gardaí were called to the scene of an incident in a car park at rear of a building on Castle Street in Roscommon town.

According to gardai a 20-year-old man suffered apparent stab wounds during the incident.

The man was taken by ambulance to Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe.

The injured man is still recovering from his injuries.

Today, Gardai also renewed their appeal for anyone who was in the Castle Street area between to 10.30pm and 11.30pm on Augusrt 30 to come forward.
