Gardaí have released a photo which is a definite contender for 'worst parking job this year'.

The grey Volkswagen Golf was spotted taking up the entire footpath on Conyngham Road near Dublin's Phoenix Park.

According to gardaí the driver had abandoned the vehicle there making the route impassable for prams and wheelchairs.

Many Twitter users also pointed out some other suspect parking in the photo.

User @conorkearney wrote: "Have a look at the cycle lane there, full of parked cars. Problem is rampant throughout the city and there's no enforcement."

Another Twitter user @Ysayn3 responded: "and people wonder why no one uses them ...."

However the other cars in the shot were legally parked - the cycle lane on the road only operates during certain hours.

The photo was taken close to where a cyclist lost his life earlier this year.

Darragh Ryan was killed when he was knocked off his bike on Conyngham Road in March. And last month another bike-user was hurt in a serious crash nearby.
