Garda investigation underway after body of man found in Dublin

The body of a man has been found on waste ground in West Dublin.

The remains were found at Cherryorchard Parade, Ballyfermot, Dublin 10, at approximately 6.30am this morning.

The body was found by a member of the public.

It's understood the man sustained serious head injuries and a shotgun was found nearby.

The scene has been sealed off, and gardai are carrying out a forensic examination.

The body remains at the scene and the office of the State Pathologist has been notified.

Dr Michael Curtis is due to do a preliminary examination.

The victim is believed to be in his 20s and from the area.

Gardai are investigating all circumstances into his death before making a decision on the nature of their enquiry.
