Gardaí are investigating the alleged false imprisonment of a woman in West Dublin.

The 19-year-old, originally from Hungary, was discovered at a property in Tyrellstown on Tuesday after gardaí were contacted by Interpol.

A man was arrested and questioned by officers but later released without charge. A file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The Irish Sun is reporting that the woman told officers she arrived in the country last month with a friend.

But just two days into her trip she became separated and befriended a non-national man.

Gardaí do not believe the woman was sexually assaulted.

It is alleged she contacted her family on Tuesday after getting access to a mobile phone. The newspaper is reporting that she spelled out a street sign in the area she alleged that she was being held and this was passed on to Interpol.

The information was relayed to gardaí who were able to locate her at a home.
