Gardaí are confident that they have identified a man filmed having sex with a woman on a squad car.

An internal garda enquiry was launched after the man was filmed wearing a jacket similar to those worn by gardaí in the course of their duties.

Handcuffs can also be seen in the footage shared on an adult website.

A source told that detectives are confident they can identify the man. A squad car will also be examined.

"Gardaí are reasonably sure that they would be able to identify the who and what of this.

"They are fairly confident that this will be resolved."

The source explained that officers are initially on a "fact-finding" mission and they will then identify if any breaches took place.

A garda disciplinary panel will then decide if any punishment is to be handed down.

The lewd video, which lasts under five minutes, has since been removed from a well-known pornography site.

A separate video, featuring the same woman engaged in a sexual act with members of the Defence Forces, has also been taken down from the page.

The user wrote: "So the videos have been removed. Nevermind, there's plenty more to come."

Earlier she told the Irish Daily Star: “They have asked me to take it down, but I won’t be taking it down."

She continued: “It was me (who put the clips online) I just thought I’d get a few hundred views. I actually didn’t expect it to go on like it did."

It's understood the footage on was filmed in the south-west of the country.

The man and woman are heard talking on the video and the woman has an English accent.

The woman's face can be seen but the man's is not visible. The woman is not believed to be a garda and it is not known if the man is a serving garda.

A garda spokesman said they are aware of the video but are not commenting further.
