Fourth man arrested following multi-million euro drug seizure

A fourth man has been been arrested following a seizure of drugs, which are expected to be worth millions of euro, in Drogheda this morning.

Cocaine and tablets were discovered by gardai during a search of a unit in an industrial estate in Drogheda, Co Louth.

The drugs have been sent for analysis by gardai.

Three men aged in their mid-30s were arrested in connection with the investigation earlier today.

This evening, gardai have said that a fourth man, aged 38, has been arrested in Drogheda by officers investigating the seizure.

He, along with the three arrested earlier, are currently being held at Drogheda Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 – Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. 

RTE reports that the seizure came by chance after gardai were called to reports of a fire in an industrial estate.

The scene is being preserved for a technical examination.
