A fire took hold at Trinity College Dublin this evening.

The alarm was raised at approximately 8.45pm after smoke was seen leaving a room in the university’s genetics building.

Four units of Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB) rushed to the scene, where they quickly brought the blaze under control.

A DFB spokesman said last night that the fire did not cause any major damage and that nobody was injured in the incident.
