Five men charged in connection with graveyard public order incident in which man was stabbed

Five men charged in connection with a public order incident at a graveyard yesterday will appear in court this morning.

Gardaí in Tralee are investigating the incident and the assault of a 24-year-old man which occurred at a graveyard yesterday afternoon.

The man received stab wounds in the incident which involved a number of men.

He was taken to Kerry General Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The incident occurred at Rathass Cemetery, Tralee, County Kerry yesterday at around 12.30pm.

Gardaí arrested 6 men, aged between 15 and 34 years, after stopping two cars a short time later in connection with the incident. A

 number of weapons/knives were recovered from both cars.  

They were detained at Tralee, Killarney & Castleisland Garda Stations under the provisions of  Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 as amended.

The five men will appear before Tralee District Court at 11am this morning. One male was released without charge and gardai say investigations are ongoing.
