Fianna Fáil TD ran after hooded thief 'like a bat out of hell' to retrieve stolen handbag
A Fianna Fáil politician chased down a hooded thief who earlier stole a woman's handbag in broad daylight.
Clare TD Timmy Dooley spotted the male individual running through traffic carrying a woman's handbag in Ennis this afternoon.
The party's transport spokesperson chased down the assailant and managed to grab the handbag.
He later reunited the bag with its owner. Gardai are investigating the incident, which happened close to O'Connell Street.
Mr Dooley told independent.ie that the woman was thrilled to have had the handbag returned.
"I was in the car and I spotted a fella in a hood running through traffic with a brown leather bag and I knew straight away something was up," he said.
"I ran after him like a bat out of hell and managed to get the bag," he added.
