A LUCKY Dublin man has won the largest scratchcard prize in the capital's National Lottery history.

The winner, who wants to remain anonymous, called into the Applegreen service station on the M1 at Lusk, Co Dublin, on Friday to buy his ticket for that night's EuroMillions draw.

He bought a scratchcard as well and was shocked when the card revealed a €500,000 win.

"I'd been lucky a few weeks ago on a scratchcard when I'd won €1,000, so I thought I'd try my luck again with the same one," said the delighted winner, adding: "I scratched it right away and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw €50,000. I took it home and showed it to my wife and she pointed out that it was €500,000, not €50,000."

He won the big prize on the Lottery's newest scratchcard 'All Cash Extravaganza'. The new €20 card gives players a chance to win up to €500,000 instantly – the largest prize on a National Lottery scratchcard.

The lucky punter, a father-of-four, said the winnings would make a huge difference.

"This means so much as it really brings peace of mind. I nearly sold our home a few months ago and now I can pay off the mortgage and credit cards," he said.
