AN engineer who made horse walkers for top trainers such as Willie Mullins died after his vehicle hit a parked car.

Ger Brennan (60), of Brennan Horse Walkers in Royal Oak, Bagenalstown, Co Carlow, lost his life in the incident near Paulstown at around 4pm yesterday.

Mr Brennan, who was on his own at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Waterford Hospital.

The married father-of-two was described by a long-time friend as "a very solid lad".

Secretary of St Andrew's GAA club George D'Arcy said: "He was a very hard-working man, from a respected family.

"He was a great St Andrew's clubman. He played football with us in his younger days."

The stretch of road was closed to facilitate an examination by garda forensic crash investigators and has since reopened.
