End in sight for the army's 'Dark Nights'
The curtain is about to draw to a close on the Defence Forces' largest ever military manoeuvres exercise.
More than 1,300 personnel have been participating in the Defence Forces' 'Dark Nights' exercise over the last two weeks at the Kilworth Training Area in Co Cork and their Newbridge headquarters.
The exercise was geared towards assessing "operational readiness and to maintain and develop skills and capabilities of personnel".
Armoured cavalry, artillery and communication equipment were also tested during the operation.
