Emergency services were called when two people crashed their moped in Dublin City Centre today.

The pair were travelling down O'Connell Street when their vehicle collided with the Luas tracks.

Crews from Phibsborough and Tara Street were called to the scene.

They tweeted: "2 fire engines (inc a rescue tender) from B Watch Tara St & Phibsborough attended this incident #Dublin #fire"

The condition of the people involved is not yet known.

This comes as the south city quays at O'Connell Bridge has been closed to facilitate ongoing Luas works, causing significant disruptions.

However, a spokesperson for AA Roadwatch said "traffic was moving well" throughout the weekend considering the roadworks.
