Eddie Hobbs - Apology

Our article of January 18, 2015 concerning Eddie Hobbs wrongly suggested that "….some of his investment advice has been catastrophic".

We acknowledge that our article erroneously gave the wrong impression of Mr Hobbs' record. In particular, we incorrectly stated that he had recommended "…that punters steam in to buy shares in Northern Rock…." and that those who purchased this stock on foot of his advice "….saw their investment vaporised".

We wish to acknowledge that Mr Hobbs at no stage recommended that investors purchase Northern Rock shares.

In referring to convicted fraudster Tony Taylor's allegation, we accept that we failed to point out that the High Court subsequently dismissed these allegations and awarded Mr Hobbs his full legal costs.

We also accept that Mr Hobbs had frequently warned of the dangers facing the Irish property market.

We apologise unreservedly to Mr Hobbs for the errors in our article and take this opportunity to set the record straight, and have agreed to pay appropriate damages to Mr Hobbs.
