A man is being questioned after drugs with a street value of €500,00 were seized by gardai.

Members of the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau stopped and searched a car on the North Road in Finglas at approximately 4pm as part of an intelligence led operation.

During the course of the search cannabis resin and cocaine (both subject to analysis), precursor chemicals and tablets were seized.

"The street value of controlled drugs seized is estimated at €500,000," said a Garda spokesman.

"One male, aged 44 years, was arrested and is currently detained at Finglas Garda station.

"Investigations are on going."

Gardai said these operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks.

"Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities," he added.

"Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality."
