More than 200 dogs and their proud owners enjoyed a special walk in the park in aid of animal welfare charity, the Irish Blue Cross.

The annual Bark in the Park saw more than 270 owners and their four-legged friends stroll through Dublin's Phoenix Park yesterday.

Following the walk, things got competitive as pooches vied to be named 'Dog with the Best Bark', 'Dog with the Happiest Smile', and 'Dog with the Waggiest Tail'.

All funds raised go towards the work of The Irish Blue Cross animal welfare charity, which helps with sick and needy pets.

Last year the event raised over €16,500 from the Barks in the Park and this year the organisation is hopeful that the event will have raised even more.
