Sometimes Twitter is not just for celebrity spats, creeping on colleagues or even looking for hard core breaking news.

Tonight, many Dublin eyes were torn between the sky above them and the phone below them as the Twitterati snapped a series of incredible pictures.

From oranges and yellows to pinks and purples, the sky over the nation's capital was truly a sight to behold.

While many complained of the drop in temperature, many were too much in awe of the rainbow canvas to mind.

Even Rosanna Davison got in on the act, accrediting hubby Wes Quirke for the photographic skills.

Of course, just because the Twitter users in Dublin were prolific in their posting doesn't mean the sky didn't impress elsewhere.

After an initial call out, we received beautiful photos in from sky watchers in Wicklow and Carlow.

Feel free to send us in your own image via #IndoSubmit and we'll add it in to the gallery.

Happy gazing!
