Detector dog helps sniff out 20,000 unstamped cigarettes in Revenue raid
Revenue has announced details of a raid in which officers seized goods valued at €12,600.
The raid took place in Fermoy, County Cork on Saturday.
Officers seized 20,000 unstamped cigarettes, 30 litres of alcohol and a car.
The intelligence-led operation was carried out with assistance from Revenue tobacco detection dog Eva.
The cigarettes were branded NZ, L&M and Minsk. The value of the goods seized was €12,600, with a potential loss to The Exchequer of €9,800.
The car was also found to have kerosene in the fuel tank.
A man in his forties and a woman in her thirties, both from Lithuania, were questioned.
