A married couple were found stabbed to death in Cobh town in Cork this afternoon.

Michael (53) and Valerie Greaney (49) were discovered dead at a house in O’Neill Place in Cobh at 3.30pm today.

Their older daughter Michelle, (23), who was in the house at the time was taken to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries.

The couple's younger Sarah (16) raised the alarm and is said to be extremely traumatised.

Mr and Mrs Greaney ran a successful physiotherapy business in Cobh town.

The scene at their home in O’ Neill’s Place is currently sealed off pending a full Garda technical examination.

A post mortem will be carried out tomorrow morning. The office of the State Pathologist arrived at the scene this evening.
